As you may have noticed Leaving Stockholm is on an indefinite hiatus. Partly, it was because it included material from an unpublished work which caused me some trouble when submitting elsewhere. It was also taking lot of time and I wasn’t writing the book.
Another thing that is taking my time away from writing is my amateur self-portrait photography, which has become a way to think through ideas and issues around the body. I mostly do this on Instagram as at to_write_like_a_dog, but have recently found that some of my photos are sadly deemed unsuitable for that platform, which in itself raises a lot of questions I want to address.
I have begun to collect some of this material on another Substack, under my handle To Write Like A Dog (one of my favourite Deleuze quotes). I intend it to act as a repository of my photographic experiments as well as a place to expand on the thoughts they provoke.
It is a very different proposition to Leaving Stockholm and will include a paywall, in order that I have a little control of some of the more vulnerable images. I fully understand if it is not your cup of tea, but I’d love to see you there.
Leaving Stockholm may be back once Stockholm is finally written.
